Do you have to get saved to serve God and accept him in your life?

Question

I really want to officially accept God and Jesus Christ as my lord and savior. I love God and I want to serve him. I want him in my life, to follow in his path. I want to find out what I was born to do.

 My mother had a miscarge then I think a year later she had my brother and I. (We're twins) My mother says that on the day that I was born two Jewish women came and told her twins were such a blessing. She also says when I was younger I said, " That's why I picked you mommy", and she said " Where?" I replied, "Up there". I was three or four at the time, but I dont even remember that. My family calls us the miracles, because my mother had us at a older age when most women wouldn't be able to bear children, but she did around 40. I want to find out why I was placed on this Earth.

 I want God to come inside my soul and tell me why or show me or even help me realize why. I want God in my life so badly. He is in my life I've gone to church all my life, but I never went up to the alter and accepted him officially and got saved ( baptized). So, I was wondering do you have to be saved to have God officially accepted into your life. I would go up there, but there's around 1,000 people in my church, and I'm very shy and don't want to walk all the way up there alone. Please help me. Thank you have a blessed day.

Once you've accepted Christ you are saved. You can get baptized if you want to, but you can serve God at any time.

Hey Allison,

Yes, in order to worship God and live for Him your whole life, you must first accept him and be saved. Now what I think you may be confused is getting saved doesnt mean going to the alter and talking to someone. Getting saved is a heart issue. I can see that your hearts desire is to want God in your life. So just get alone and pray to the Lord. Praying is not what saves you but it is the way we talk to God to officially accept Him. Accepting God is not going to alter to talk to someone, it's just accepting Him in your heart and mind, and then with your life. Thats what getting saved means.

You must recognize that you're a sinner and that you have fallen short of what God has wanted for you. You must recognize you deserve nothing less than eternal hell for spitting on God's face with your sin your whole life. You dont deserve God. You must recognize that Jesus steps in to save you. That on that cross, he took your death and punishment and he took the penalty for sin that you shouldve taken. And through His death and resurrection, you can have a relationship with God and eternal life with God.

Your next steps after you just have a serious time with the Lord, recognziing all this stuff and telling God that you will devote your life to Him: 1) Get baptized as soon as you can. Baptism isn't essential to salvation but it is a step in obedience. 3) Start your journey with the Lord by reading your bible and praying. Learn and grow in your christian walk. i would start in Matthew.
