Unless you can find parts relatively cheap, you would probably be better off to spend a little more and buy a new system. Any upgrades you make to this system are likely to only make small improvements and probably won't allow you to run the newest software. That being said, the first choice should always be add more memory - up to the system max. Unless the processor is at the very low end of what your computer can use, you're not likely to see any significant improvement from a faster processor. You might try a better video card, but without your full system specs, I can't make any real recommendations. Can you post the make and model of your computer? This would make it easier to tell you what you can and can't do.

If you need a quad core you will need to upgrade the mother board and the CPU. If you have the money I suggest upgrading to the core-i5 3570k and the Asus P8Z77-V motherboard. These parts will run you about $435.

It is a laptop processor, and it cannot be upgraded at all. So new build recommendation:asus p8h77-i(this case only miniitx,i got a sx2850),intel core i5 3470. With the new config you still need a discrete gpu.

At the bottom of the page is the list of compatible (same socket type) processors. There are no quad core processor for that type socket.
You just purchased an underpowered budget computer.

Unfortunately there's not much out there, what you have it's basically a laptop/netbook CPU in a sff desktop. I would even wager that the CPU is likely soldered onto the mobo in that computer. You're stuck with what you have.
