As a devote Jew, would Jesus have ever been required to make an animal sacrifice?

I know there were ritual sacrifices that Jews performed for sin offerings. If Jesus were sinless, he might not have done those. Are there some for other purposes?

The word "sacrifice" never meant what we think of today as a sacrifice -- to give up something of value.

A sacrifice in the 1st Century was meant to bring one closer to God. No one felt as if they were giving up anything of great value -- they made sacrifices from their great love of God just as we do today when celebrating other joyful occasions. Why do we put on huge spreads at weddings, anniversaries, and other grand occasions? Because we want to celebrate our love for one another and to bring our family and friends closer to one another!!!!

Please learn Hebrew at least enough to learn what those words meant at the time. You are welcome to attend Torah study at local synagogues where you will meet many Hebrew speakers who can give you translations of specific words. You won't be disappointed!

"sin offerings" are sacrifices brought if a person sinned without intent.

It is only one of a substantial number of types of sacrifices in Judaism.

The majority of sacrifices are about thanking God or celebrating with him.

Taking the stories of the New Testament at face value, there were several instances when he clearly violated laws under the Jewish covenant. If it was unintentional, then he should have brought sacrifices.

Since (again taking the stories at face value) he did not realize he was braking the law, they were unintentional -- and therefore - yes - he was obligated.

As a Jew, Jesus did all the things that the law required. By reading the Bible you will find that he went to all the required holiday celebrations.

If I could stop a person from raping a child, I would. That's the difference between me and your god.
