Christians. This is a legitamate question?
Biblical proof that the Pope is NOT the antichrist. A friend of mine argues that he is but that is absurd. Bible verses please.

No, the pope will not be the antichrist.
The common belief among Bible scholars, both of today and of the past, is that at the time the antichrist comes into power, the pope that is in office at that time will be the false prophet.
The antichrist will be the world political leader.
The false prophet will be the world spiritual leader.

The Antichrist comes out of the area of the ancient Seleucid Empire. If you mean this current Pope, he was born in South America, Argentina if I remember right.
Daniel 11 gives a history of what took place with Seleucus 1, a general who inherited a particular portion of Alexander the Great's Empire. The Antichrist shows up in verse 21 “He will be succeeded by a contemptible person who has not been given the honor of royalty. He will invade the kingdom when its people feel secure, and he will seize it through intrigue."
In other words, he will be given control of one of ten nations in that area in the future, but not given control of all ten (until he is possessed)).
The Pope, this Pope or a future one is in line to be the false prophet. The False Prophet has to be a sort of religious leader, who also has a way of making the rest of the world (the Western world in particular), agree to go along with the "Beast", which is in this case the governmental system which is shown in Revelation 13 in various ways using Daniel 7 imagery- characteristics of past empires; Babylonian, Medo-Persian, and Grecian.
So the Pope needs to be capable and had already resources established to make this happen with an already besieged Western World. I'm thinking it will be cataclysms that will tear the Western World up and cause a mass migration to Israel for a number of them. But the pope will make a pact with the leaders of "the Beast" and when the Mark of the Beast is instituted, he will be successful in causing the rest of the world; the western world which has no history of going along with any leader from the Middle East, to succumb to a new form of government.
So the Pope isn't born in the right area. And his office isn't the same as what the Antichrist will hold.

Rather than just ask for Bible verses that you thinks says what you want to hear it would be better to reason on them.
Such as John 13:35 that Jesus said that his disciples would have love among themselves. Does the Catholic Church that the Pope leads demonstrate that love hypocritically?
Does it obey Jesus command found in Matthew 24:14
Does he have friendship with the world as taught in James 4:4?
If honestly he obeys all these fundimental questions then no, he is not against Christ.

No, this is not a legitimate question.
Put down your video games and stop LOOKING for the antichrist.
It's because of psychos like this that the pope has to ride in that bullet-proof golf cart.

Why would God appoint the antichrist to lead His Church?
Pope Francis is the 265th successor to Saint Peter who God chose personally to lead the Church.
Jesus said to Simon (Mt 16:18-19), "I for my part declare to you, you are 'Rock,' and on this rock I will build my church, and the jaws of death shall not prevail against it."
Then He goes further, saying, "I will entrust to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you declare bound on earth shall be bound in heaven; whatever you declare loosed on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Interesting choice of words that "keys of the kingdom" because that same phrase was used in Isaiah 22:22, when God throws out Shebna and calls Eliakim, son of Hilkiah. God said, "I will place the key of the house of David on his shoulder; when he opens, no one shall shut, when shuts no one shall open." Eliakim then assumes a role second only to David himself.
You see, this imagery of a key being a symbol of authority is also used in Revelations 3:7, "To the presiding spirit of the church in Philadelphia, write this: 'The holy One, the true, who wields David's key, who opens and no one can close, who closes and no one can open,'"
"But," one may say, "Peter never assumed a role of authority over the other apostles! He was still their equal!" Well, he sure acted like he had power, though, and so did everyone else. In Acts 15, the Council of Jerusalem was convened to decide whether one need be circumcised to be saved. "After much discussion, Peter took the floor" and said that circumcision wouldn't be necessary for salvation, but "'our belief is rather that we are saved by the favor of the Lord Jesus and so are [the Gentiles].' At that the whole assembly fell silent." After Peter spoke, the whole council knew that that was that. It had been decided, because Peter had spoken.
Now, it was clear that those whom Jesus appointed would fill actual offices, and that they would not simply die off. In Acts 1:15-26, the apostles actually chose a replacement for Judas: Matthias. They knew that they held offices which needed to be filled upon the death of its holder.
So it was with Peter's office, and 265 successors later, God still wouldn't appoint the antichrist to lead the Church.

The pope is "an" anti-Christ. He goes against biblical teachings and since the church is infallible, it cant change...........Will the pope or a pope eventually be "the" anti-Christ?....time will tell..........>
