Basketball How to play the post?
I've been playing basketball for some time now. I am kind of tall, 5'7'' almost and i'm 13, in my area most people are still midgets. But they're getting taller now. I can still play the forward spot, but I play like an over-sized guard. But I realized, over the summer, that when me and my friends play all we do is either drive, shoot, or try to cut in sometimes. I wanted to add some post offense. I know a lot of post moves, and I practice them frequently, but I don't know how to add them to my actual game. When I call for passes in the post, my friends never pass it, they only like to pass it out on the perimeter. And when they do pass it, the person behind me knocks it away from me a lot. I know I'm supposed to jump to the ball when it comes to me, chin it, etc., but I just can't seem to do it in games? Can anybody help me out?
I'm 5'7'', but I live in Grand Junction and there are a lot of short people here. I was put at center just a year ago when I was 5'5''.

Grand Junction, Utah? I live in St. George. But I would suggest looking at youtube there are some good tutorials on moves. You can actually watch some of Hakeem working with Dwight on there too. Get that jump hook down then learn an up in under move to start out.

Err your 5'7 trying to play the post?:o. I know your only 13, but bro don't worry about post moves right now. You need to worry about your guard skills. When I was 13 I was 6'1 always playing power foward-center and rarely playing small foward. I'm now 16 6'4 and I'm desperately trying to transition to play the 2 and occasionally 3 or 1. Because I'm only going to grow to about 6'6 and you really don't see that many 6'6 PF or C in college lol. So I would advise master ball handling and everything in basketball will come soooo much more smoothly, I promise. I can not stress to you enough how important ball handling is!!
