It does not say putting our country at risk. Did you even read the article? It's talking about suicide.

Wow you really are obsessed with atheists. Trying everything you can to make atheists look bad. You do realize that in the long run, that only reflects on you... not on us, right? Or don't you understand that people will eventually look at what YOU are doing and start calling you out on it since YOU are actually trying to further damage the reputation of non's, like so many other extremely religious people do.

    That is just dumb.

They show a ring of fools with their heads down praying!

    In a war zone?

How many atheists did they have on guard so they could do that stupidity?

Fanatics have always and remain a threat to national security, not the other way around.

Time to separate military from religion, they are incompatible in the extreme.

It doesn't surprise me that the "US military has a problem", but it seems like a problem of their own doing. Why they should give a crap at all over a soldier's religion or lack thereof makes no sense to me.

I find the association of Atheism with heartlessness ignorant and offensive :

"I can't imagine an atheist accompanying a notification team as they go into some family's home to let them have the worst news of their life and this guy says, 'You know, that's it — your son's just worms, I mean, worm food.''

I don't see any reason why non-religious counselors can't be available to troops. I think the Bible-belt mentality is for more harmful.

    Source(s): I think therefore I am Atheist.

Nothing about the US surprises me any more. But lets face it,having troops that will blindly follow orders regardless of how stupid those orders are can give you a very effective fighting force, especially when they believe in a paradise following death. The down-side is that they do not question orders that can lead to awful atrocities being committed.

The USA definitely has a military problem. The defense budget is $640 billion and growing.

The military is a dictatorship organised to control their members, who will use belief in a fantasy to do so if it works.

In this aspect, it is no different from Christianity.

Of course they would hate atheists. That's what controlling groups need to do - hate.

When you have a psychotic saying that no atheist can be a patriot, then yes I can see where that dribbles down and effects everything.
