How can the Bible be the word of God when it was written by ordinary dudes?

There's literally nothing to even suggest that the Bible is the word of God. It was obviously not written by God. Books written by people, are, quite obviously, expressing human views and ideas.

Because we know what God would write like? No one has ever claimed it was written by God. That's why we say it's the inspired word of God. Since it was penned by dudes, there are obvious personality traits in the writing. But that's no more proof that it wasn't inspired by God than proof that it was.

I would also say that the views and ideas expressed in the bible are not human views. They were so far out of the box compared to any other religious views at the time, that if we're talking about empirical evidence, it would actually trigger a plausible. Besides, who's making the judgement they are simply human views not inspired by God? You? If it was so obvious, as you suggest, this wouldn't be the most hotly debated topic of the last 2000 years. The argument would have been won by your side long ago.

What is "obvious" to you is merely ignorance of the experiences of others.

People with His Spirit receive words of prophecy, while another person

with His Spirit is given the interpretation. I can verify that because I was

given an interpretation seconds before another man spoke it at a meeting.

It was word-for-word in terms that I do not use in speech or thought.

The writers of the Bible were mostly incapable of writing the details they

recorded. They wrote under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and mathematic

experts have done some serious research into scripture in recent years

with sophisticated computer programs, finding near impossibly intricate

number patterns woven into the text (as the ancient letters had numeric

values) and when arranged across a grid with the right number per line,

they even found the author's name of each book in the center of each

page. This has only been possible in our time with computing power

discovering patterns with probability odds to the power of 14 places.

A mathematician named Palin found number patterns a few decades

ago - the odds of which were incredibly rare - but that was only basic

compared to what has been found recently. It can only be God's word.

Don't be so quick to rubbish what you don't understand. I don't have a

million dollars in my bank, but that doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

If you don't like it .. DON'T READ IT .. that's easy .. just read comics.

God authored the bible through ordinary dudes who became Spiritually Born again. 2Peter 1:21 "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." 2Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." There are plenty of things mentioned in the bible that were proven hundred to thousands of years later. Oceans contain springs (Job 38:16) The Ocean is very deep. Almost all the ocean floor is in total darkness and the pressure there is enormous. It would have been impossible for Job to have explored the “springs of the sea.” Until recently, it was thought that oceans were fed only by rivers and rain. Yet in the 1970’s, with the help of deep diving research submarines that were constructed to withstand 6,000 pounds-per-square-inch pressure, oceanographers discovered springs on the ocean floor . The Earth is round . Isaiah 40:22 - 15th Century. Plants use sunlight to manufacture food Job 8:16 - 1920. To name a few

The Bible was written by some 40 different men.

Those who wrote the Bible were inspired by God. They wrote his thoughts, not their own.

So God in heaven, not any human on earth, is the Author of the Bible. - 2 Timothy 3:16,17: 2 Peter 1: 20,21.

the Bible books written for persons inspired with the Holy spirit the God

Well the guys who wrote it SAID that it was all inspired directly by god, and that he essentially TOLD them exactly what to write, word for word. Are you saying that those dudes were either lying or delusional? Cuz that's implying that the Christians primitive 4th century Christians were simple, gullible and believed what they were told, and that's just a shocking idea.

  • It is inspired by God, He told the writers what to write, and they wrote it. Many people do that now. But, the neat thing is, so many different men wrote for God, over thousands of years, and yet , it all fits together. It tells a complete story of God's love for all, and plan His plan of redemption for those who believe in Jesus.

    1. It seriously postulates an historical basis. Just look at Luke chapter 3, the first five verses. How many historical persons does he list to date that one event? As one scholar said, 'it is based on historical facts, inextricably tied up with historical facts, and may for all practical purposes be regarded as true if the facts upon which it is based are shown to be true.' Just skim through second Kings, for example, and note how a running chronology was kept referring to the dates of rule of various kings, the accepted way of keeping track of dates then. Archaeological artifacts, such as the Nabonidus Chronicle, the Cyrus Cylinder and the Moabite Stone confirming the Bible's historical accounts grace museums around the world, such as the British Museum and the Louvre. Show me a museum artifact confirming one of the mythological religions.

    2. It is scientifically accurate. In Job 26:7 (dates 'way before 200 BCE, when the Hebrew Scriptures were translated into the Greek Septuagint) it says, "He is stretching out the north out over the empty place, hanging the earth upon nothing." The Law of Moses correctly detailed principles of quarantine in case of disease. Circumcision was given, whiich reduces danger of cervical cancer in women. It was to be done on the eighth day after birth, when, according to medical science, the infant's antibody level peaks and is actually higher than it will be the rest of his life. In its opening words (Genesis 1:1), it leaves the time of the creation of the universe and earth open, while the next chapter, (2:4) shows that the seven "days" of creation were not literal by referring to them ALL as one "day," and using a different Hebrew word to show that those "days" were solely from the perspective of an observer on the earth, preparing it for habitation. Sir Henry Rawlinson commented on the divergence of languages throughout the earth, 'If we were to be guided merely by the intersection of linguistic paths, and independent of the Bible record, we should still be led to fix on the plains of Shinar as the focus from which the various lines had radiated.' (Mesopotamia, Babylonia, where the tower of Babel was said to have been attempted and languages confused.) There are too many things like this to mention here.

    3. The candor of the Bible writers. The Bible plasters important Bible characters' mistakes and faults up for all to see. A sign of honesty.

    4. Fulfilled prophecy. Jesus in his prophecy concerning the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans (70 C.E.) told the Christians to get out whenn they saw Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies, as her "desolation is getting near." (Luke 21:20-24) This,in fact, happened in 66 CE when it was surrounded by Roman General Cestius Gallus, who, on the verge of winning, retreated instead. Eusebius, historian of about the 4th century, records that the Christians fled to the mountains near Pella. The Romans returned in 70 CE and besieged the city, swollen with visitors for a festival. 1,100,000 were killed, the remaining 100,000 sold as slaves, according to Josephus' "Wars of the Jews". How did the Christians know to flee if the prophecy was 'written later and disguised to appear as if it had been written before?'

    5. Jesus fulfilled some 150 prophecies recorded 200 years before his arrival in the Greek Septuagint Bible (which see.)

    Best regards,

    Mike

I often think that too. Even though I am a christian, there is a lot obvious errors that suggests unethical and ungodly bias. Given examples: stoning disobedient children, or men being the dominant ruler of women.
