How to cook pasta so that it does not stick to the bottom of the pot?
It seems like, no matter how I set up the pot (starting with cold water or room temperature water, salted or unsalted, oil or no), I'm having to stand over the pot and stir it constantly or I'll have a bunch of pasta stuck to the bottom of the pot. Type of pasta doesn't make a difference either . . .
Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks !
When I add it to the boiling water, it all settles to the bottom and will stick if I'm not quick with the spoon, so over-boiling is not the issue.

Use more water, and stir the pasta as soon as you put it in the water, until the water is boiling again. Then keep the water boiling and stir occasionally while the pasta is cooking. That said, I have found that some shapes of pasta have a serious tendency to stick. It's just because of the shape they are. Stir those ones more often. Salted or unsalted, or oil or not, those things don't matter at all.

Take your biggest pot and use a LOT of water. Don't pour oil in the water. Italians never do. For one pound of pasta you need about 10 pints of water minimum.

I think you need more water. Should be med-high heat whole time.
I use salt & oil also.
Stir every few mins.

It sounds like you're over-boiling it... Try less time.
