  • What would be the best short term storage option for this situation?

Our apartment complex will be re-doing the carpet and vinyl flooring in our unit as an incentive for signing another lease. The only problem is that it will take an entire day and we must have our unit completely emptied of all belongings in order for them to do the work. We've been looking at portable storage pods, but the minimum rental period is one month plus the site delivery fee for approximately $175.00. Since we will only need it for one day - two tops - would it be more cost effective to rent a larger U-haul truck for that time and just load it up & leave it in the parking lot until we can move the stuff back inside? are there other options? If so, I'd appreciate your suggestions.

    Thank you!

  • How to cook pasta so that it does not stick to the bottom of the pot?

It seems like, no matter how I set up the pot (starting with cold water or room temperature water, salted or unsalted, oil or no), I'm having to stand over the pot and stir it constantly or I'll have a bunch of pasta stuck to the bottom of the pot. Type of pasta doesn't make a difference either . . .

Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks !

  • what type of curtains block outside noise?

We live in a ground floor corner unit apartment. Our sons have the bedroom with two windows - one of which faces the parking lot. With late-evening pedestrian and car traffic noises, they don't really sleep well when in that room. Are there any types of window treatments that would block some of that sound? If so, what are they called? I'm not having much luck with my own searches and we'd really like to get their room squared away so that they can sleep in their beds and not in the living room. Suggestions and links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Do we need separate litter boxes for our cats?

Our primary cat may be preventing the new addition from getting to the box when she needs to go, since she has claimed the most inaccessible corner of our living room as her own. She came to us from a 4-cat household where one of the other three would attack her every time she came out. Our pet, whom we had previously thought a "chill" cat, is now messing with her after 4 days. I think that he's trying to show his dominance as primary pet. But I'm afraid she'll decide "enough is enough" and go off on him. Any suggestions would be most helpful.
