    1) 3x/8-2x=1/5 convert -2x to -16x/8

    3x/8 - 16x/8 = 1/5

    (3x - 16x)/8 = 1/5 multiply both sides by 40, to eliminate the denominators

    5(-13x) = 8 = -65x divide both sides by -65

    -8/65 = x

    2) 11x/3-1/4+3=7x/6+1/3 combine like terms

    11x/3 + 2 3/4 = 7x/6 + 1/3

    11x/3 + 11/4 = 7x/6 + 1/3 multiply both sides by 12, to eliminate the denominators

    44x + 33 = 14x + 4 subtract 14x from both sides

    30x + 33 = 4 subtract 33 from both sides

    30x = -29 divide both sides by 30

    x = -29/30

    i) 3x-16x = 8/5

    x = -8/65

    ii) 15x/6 = 1/3+1/4-3 = -29/12

    x = -29/30

    lack of parans make both equations very ambiguous.

    to take just one term: 7x/6+1/3

    is that (7x/6)+(1/3)

    or 7x/(6+1)/3

    or 7x/(6+(1/3))

    all totally different. and that is just one term.

    3x/8 - 2x = 1/5

    5 * (3x/8 - 2x) = (1/5) * 5

    15x/8 - 10x = 1

    8 * (16x/8 - 10x) = 1 * 8

    15x - 80x = 8

    -65x = 8

    x = -8/65
