There are neck and groin protectors. In addition, there are parts that protect the shoulders. Kevlars are rated for most pistol rounds. The Army doesn't let soldier use their own personal vests. The majority of rounds the enemy use will be rifle rounds.

Too much body armor on a person will slow their movement which is dangerous. Run around in 80-100lbs of gear on you and you'll know what I mean.

You don't trust the Army to take care of you?

I'm sure your fire team will be glad to carry you back from patrol when you pass out from the heat of your private Kevlar suit.

You will not be able to use or wear your own kevlar vests while in the Army.
