How many litters of puppies does a responsible breeder allow bitches to have?
I am not a breeder and do not intend to breed my dog, I am adopting a dachshund in October after she has weened her last litter of puppies, she will then be spayed. I just wondered how many litters a decent breeder usually allows before "retiring" the dog?

Depends entirely upon that dog, her health, and if her progeny are healthy as well.

Well it depends on how healthy she is and her pups are as my one had them once and she got skinny and boney her pups were find but they nearly killed her as she got so skinny.
