Why do the people that do not believe in God or say bad things about him pray to him when their sick or dying?
Other than that they say: "there is no God", or they mock him. They say many hateful things about him until something happens to them or their family members. Then they cry out; "Oh God please help me". Then is the time that they need him or believe that he is real.

What would you do if your an atheist and had your mom dying of cancer would you just go up to her and say you had a good run mom but its your time.
