Who made the biggest changes, the theist that used to be an atheist or the atheist that used to be a theist?

And how would they fair in a debate against each other?..

This is a very though-provoking question. But I think the theist who became atheist made the greater change. At the time he was a theist, he had at least two sources of truth : empiricism and revelation; as an atheists, he now limits himself to the less of those two sources, which so often is transient in nature.

I also think the atheist turned theist would fare batter than the theist turned atheist, in a debate.

I think the theist who used to be an atheist. A lot of atheists disapprove of religion and tend to be more interested in science and the like. Being an atheist myself, the only religion i could ever see myself taking an interest would be wicca or maybe pantheism. I could never see myself becoming a christian or jew or muslim. Im not prejudiced against any of these religions, i just cant imagine going through such a transition. Then again, i imagine it would be quite difficult for the theist also, having to drop everything they believe in.

A knowledgable/real atheist would NEVER become a theist unless he had a brain injury. A theist can become an atheist - happens all the time.

The more HONEST person is the one who once believed in the fairy tales of theism then admitted they were wrong.
