He was probably trying to point out to you that you put too much emphasis on you're own greed and narrow minded political viewpoints -- to the degree that you couldn't bother to pay your own family member a wage above a government assisted rate -- Which would then put him in the awkward position of working for less under the thumb of someone who would want to exact control over him under the guise of helping him out. So sure - He turns that down -- He has more time with his children and he will keep his own dignity and and find a job that can pay 75 cents more! I can only imagine the reason you wouldn't bother to at least MATCH the assistance rate is that you're far too prideful to do that because guess what? This is not a family matter to you this is a political matter. Forget that he's a part of your family! After all, the real satisfaction from your possible manipulative transaction would be that you knew you were sticking it to him! I'm taking a wild guess that your son-in-law has different political views then you?

So forget that he;s FAMILY! You're just going to go right ahead and post a public and politically driven question about your son in law on the Internet! You have so much integrity. That's so very honoring and admirable of you! Hopefully you will continue to find ways to put him down and that will greatly serve your self centered political agenda! And just think, for 75 cents more an hour you could avoid that.

You must of forgot to tell us how much that entry level job pays. After good safe daycare 8-9hr might be a loss.
