We tried to push the envelope seeing what excellent care could do for a dog's life expectancy. We fed our beautiful, loving, standard poodle the best dog food we could afford with no grains, just proteins, veggies, blueberries, etc. We wondered how long we could keep our beautiful baby alive with regular trips to the vet, exercise, good food and love. But the tears are welling in my eyes, now he's four, and just diagnosed with autoimmune disease. I'm heartbroken that nobody has even breathed a word that this could happen. I thought he was slowing down from his puppyhood but no! it's an inherited disease that's making my exuberant baby so listless. And there's no real cure. Just a lifetime of meds and maybe chemo if it goes to the bone marrow. Does anyone know anymore or have a miracle cure? Or just what to do?

Especially need one that does not get hot because it takes quite a while to groom a standard poodle.

The nighttime crazies are getting shorter. He still has a lot of energy, but if nothing's happening around the house he'd rather nap than initiate play. Is this what I should expect?
