Standard poodle lovers: It seems my poodle has lost his puppyhood already. He's only 4 yrs. old.?

The nighttime crazies are getting shorter. He still has a lot of energy, but if nothing's happening around the house he'd rather nap than initiate play. Is this what I should expect?

When mine was 3-4 we lived in a house with room mates and one of them had a dobe (her best friend) they would play for hours, never stopped, once I moved into my own place she would miss her friend but then she started to slow down once she hit 5 or so, but every time we got together with my friends and her dobe, they would both be crazy, running like mad and chasing each other, but not for as long as they did before, after a while they would both collapse in a heap, both were the same age, 5-6 yrs old. It's normal to slow down, maturity does that.

A dog is considered out of puppy the moment he turns 1 year. By 4 years, your Poodle is most certainly now adult, and will be slowing down a tad one might expect. If you are worried that he's overly lethargic, why not take him in for a health check - if only to put your mind at rest that he's basically healthy.

He's an adult now and so are you, the best thing is long walks because you have a very bored lovely dog. Make his life better by taking him out at least 3 times a day, pups grow into dogs babies become children, it's called the cycle of life.

Bring out a ball or frisbee & play a game of fetch with him. Spend time doing some training everyday. Long walks or hikes. The more you engage him in activity with you, the more active he will be.

He's an adult. Ah, you gotta miss those puppy years, right? :)

The sleepless nights...I'm yearning for them already :)

At 4 yrs., he is an adult. If you're one of those people, you can look at it from the perspective that he's 28 human years...

Well, at 4 he's no longer a puppy and will soon enter middle age. Sounds normal.
