Use free internet in a library or a coffee shop. You do not even have to be inside the building to get a decent wi-fi signal.

If you want internet at home, you can find some wi-fi connections without a password on them, or ask your neighbors to let you use their wifi in exchange for a small payment.

If you want your own connection, call the land-line phone company and cable-TV company, and ask for quotes. These are different companies in different regions, and they constantly have promotions and special deals, so no way to say which is better.

Finally, you can get certain cell phones (like HTC) to serve as wifi hotspot, using their data connection. It will be slower than wire, but it might cost less if you have unlimited traffic.
