I don't want to brainwash my kids into potty training?

I want to teach them *HOW* to think, now *WHAT* to think, because that would be brainwashing. Should I just let the rascal poop and pee wherever he pleases until he comes to the age of reason, and then gently, subtly explain to him the pros and cons of potty training and a-potty training?

Should I then use the same approach to morality? I don't think it would be right to brainwash them and tell them it is immoral to steal cookies.

Again, I'm just trying to be a tolerant, good human being, because I know what a horrible, unforgiveable "sin" it is to tell your own children how to act and what to believe. Or does that only apply to certain things? If so, I'd *LOVE* to hear how this is determined.

Update:

Banana, seriously weak. Not being potty trained doesn't mean you don't believe in urine. That was completely and totally non sequitor. And please try and think beyond a little bit, not just laser focusing on the potty part.

James Joyce, my faith does none of those things. Try again.

Amie, no, I will simply discipline them normally and brainwash them into believing that being potty trained is the *only* way to be. Same with me preaching and brainwashing against stealing cookies.

Update 2:

Banana, I'm not even trying to make you think about the existence of God, I'm trying to make you think about the absurd notion that teaching your kids to believe in something or act in a certain way should be labelled "brainwashing."

My understanding is that as parents, we are just agent of Christ and thus we raise God's child. So we teach our kids the Christ way as early as possible. If we dont, someone else will do.

If this is such a big concern to you how about getting them to think about how you feel when they leave their waste everywhere and you have to waste time cleaning up, and point out to them the pros and cons of both actions, ie pooping everywhere or learning to use the potty. Not only are you teaching them to evaluate their actions but you're getting them to empathise with your feelings - killing two birds with one stone. It's never too early to start educating your children.

Potty training has a tangible benefit. Believing in magic sky fairies doesn't.

    Urine is real. Gods aren't.

I can prove to you urine is real, although I'm sure you probably know it already is. Now show me that God is as real as urine.

"Not being potty trained doesn't mean you don't believe in urine"

Potty training doesn't mean God is real. Seriously weak. Also, laser focusing on the urine and ignoring the first bit about tangible benefits? Even weaker. If you want to play that game.

Are you also going to tell them if they do it on the floor they will be punished forever, for their minor mistake.
