What car should I buy? (18 years old)?

I'm very grateful my parents are giving me a 15k budget for a new/used car for college/getting to work. A few things, it has to be reliable and it needs to get decent-good gas mileage. Needs to hold 5 people and needs good cargo space. I would like leather seats (nice interior for the friends or dates), with a CD player and an AUX jack. It also should be years 2008+. I'm not really a car fanatic, though I know the terminology and I know how cars work. My question is: What car should I buy?

A few cars I'm looking at are:

-2010 Jetta Wolfsburg edition 2.0T

-2008 Volvo s60 2.5T/T5

-2011 Hyundai Elantra (seems nice since it has a back up camera, nav, and bluetooth... but no leather seats... which is meh when you get all the other options. Is also underpowered. Also no sideview mirror turn indicators. It has its greats and no so greats...)

-2014 Jeep Patriot (also no leather seats)

-2008 Chrysler 300c (Pushing the budget, but I can travel or wait for a good deal if it's worth it)

Any other cars I should look at? I'm close to pulling the trigger on either the Volvo or the Hyundai, but clearly I'm open to any other suggestions :)

Update:

Also I'm not really looking for a "first car". I've gone through 2 cars. a 95 Cherokee(started leaking and was too $$$ to fix), and I'm currently driving a 95 camry. So I've driven the older cars and it's time to get something newer with less milage :) Also, my parents tell me it must be newer than 2008 because it's risky buying 20 year old cars >.> Personally I wish I could just get another cherokee but it's their money and they're making me get something newer XD haha

Update 2:

@LT that reminds me :O I've also checked out the 2013 Dodge Dart, and 2012 Avenger (didn't like the avenger at all >.>)

Update 3:

@Omar XD Only if my budget was twice as high I'd seriously consider it :)

Update 4:

Thanks, LLTT! :) Haha Ya, I know some aren't so manly. I love jeep... but the patriot is so bare bones at my price point, but it's a jeep :)

Ya... the volvo's such an old person car I agree >.> Wouldn't be very attractive for dates ;D haha

I saw a 300c and my dad's like... "That's a freaking pimp mobile"... which is pretty damn accurate XD I'll agree with you and him. And I'm surprised you have the Avenger such a high rating :O I guess I'll REALLY need to check it out again. I like it's styling but the one I drove was extremely cheap... and was very very laggy... then again... it was a rental car.

Update 5:

@Bobby... That charger... there are some REALLY nice priced chargers in my area. Nice and "manly" where I'd think LLTT would approve XD reliable, powerful, sexy. Might be the one. We'll see.

  • Wow, for a guy, you have some strange car choices. But hey, to each his own.

Anyways, the easiest way to give my opinion on each car, I'll list what I think of each one.

Firstly, the 2010 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition.

Not the kind of car I'd like to be caught dead in with my buddy. Rate: 2/10

    Secondly, the 2008 Volvo s60.

Not so much girly as grammy. If you're 80 years old or just a blah person, sure, go for this one. But, if you want to show happiness, go for something else. Rate: 3/10

    Next, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra.

Has some nice designs and curving, but still leans toward a teen girl. Let's not make other drivers question your sexuality. Rate: 5/10

Moving along, the 2014 Jeep Patriot.

This one actually caught my eye. This shows off your manhood and your good choice of vehicle. Of all your listings, this would be the one to go for. Rate: 9.5/10

And lastly, the 2008 Chrysler 300c.

Okay, not to sound too racist, but it fits a rich black man more than it ever will an 18 year old white boy. But still, one of the more manlier choices than some of your others. Once again, go for the Patriot. Rate: 6/10

Seems like you've looked into each one, but there's a great 4-door vehicle that beats the he out of all these cars.

    The 2010-2012 Dodge Avenger.

It kicks *** and has so much potential. Looks like it could rip your bum hole open just by staring at it. Badass car right there. Rate: 10/10

But, if you'd rather stick with your list of cars, I stand by the Jeep Patriot. What a beauty.

Looks like you have received a lot of great feedback on which vehicle you should consider. Personally, I am a huge fan of the Chrysler 300. I drove a 2005 Chrysler 300C for 8 years and put just over 142,000 miles on it before trading it in on a 2012 Chrysler 300S. Currently have almost 13,000 miles on this vehicle.

Absolutely LOVE both vehicles. The 2005 ran perfectly and I only had regular maintenance performed to it. My 2013 has been perfect!

Good Luck finding the right vehicle for you.

Out of those alternatives, i might want to bypass with the Mustang GT. it is massive looking, quick, and purely undeniable cool. if you're searching for a 'sleeper' motor vehicle, inspect the comments on the MazdaSpeed 3. It ourperforms the Subaru WRX and the circumvent high quality SRT-4. It also has a swifter 0-60 time than the Ford Mustang GT. i purchased on very last month and discover it an excellent fee for the money.

For a first car, I would say a 96 Tahoe C1500, fits 5 decent economy for Gallons Per Hundred Mile and parts are cheap to replace. More money for more college dues and fees or dorm rental.

I would get the Jetta Wolfsburg. The fuel economy shouldn't be too bad, and it will hold up pretty well.
