Seven Month Old Rough Collie Neutered needs ideas on working with his dominance when told No.?

Example: Coming into the house and not allowing him to follow. He jumps up and nips at you .Remember, he is being proofed, therefore he knows his commands perfectly in the house. He is brain dead when it's not his idea. I need different ideas to work on this new problem he has come up with.

Update:

Thank You Lorraine....The major part of the problem is walking to the door, putting him in a sit, then opening the door, he rushes in front of me and the door, therefore walking in and ignoring him doesn't work. I don't want him on a leash as I am trying to teach him, he comes in when I'm ready for him, when not, he stays outside.

Because he was bred as a herding dog it is in his genetics to herd. He needs a job to do and it sounds as if you are not giving him the activity he needs. These dogs are very smart and If you do not give him a job he will find one and it may not be what you have in mind. These dogs need a lot of exercise and room to run. The jumping up and nipping is part of him trying to herd you. Try to work with his basic instincts instead of against them. You will have a happier dog in the long run.

Good luck with him - he should become a good indoor dog as long as he gets the exercise time he needs.
