Why haven't I received all my jsa?
Well basically I first put in for jsa over a month ago knowing that I probably wouldn't have a decent paying job. I have been in for my interview and I have been to sign on once (today will be the second time) and have realised that I have only been paid 44 quid which is somewhat short of what I expected. So what is going on?? I need the money for petrol to get back and forth and at this rate I won't ve able to do that. Now am I wrong in my understanding here, am I not meant to receive dome kind of back pay?

When you first went to the sso and applied for jsa thats the date you begin to get payed from.. The normal pay is roughly £120-130 a fortnight.. You need to go to your local sso and speak to someone about this.. You cannot survive on £40.. When they tell you a date that you'll payed up tyen you ask for a 'crisis loan'.. Say its for 'living expenses'.. You'll recieve this payment that day.. Be there early to make your crisis loan app!

JSA is paid in arrears, that means the last time you signed on for the days previously. You also don't get paid for the first 3 days of a claim (waiting days).
You last signed either 29th or 30th July and you must only have put the claim in about a week before that. Hence you only get paid a few days JSA from 3 days after you put in your claim to your last signing on day.
When you get paid in 3 working days time you'll get your full JSA of either £142 or £114 depending on your age.

Go ask the Job Center - you should have received a letter stating what you will get and from when. It only counts from the date of first claim.
Did you hand over your P45 from your previous employment or are you an ex student?

Is there no two types of JSA, in that one is contribution based and the other is not and therefore is a lesser amount?
