  • Oil being lost??????

Good morning. I'm experiencing problems with the oil either leaking or being consumed within the engine, with my chevrolet matiz. Everything else in the car runs fairly smoothly, no knocking or rattling or any other adverse sounds whilst I'm driving the car along. However I've noticed over a 3 - 4 week period I seem to lose a litre of oil, now whilst purchasing is not exactly costing much, in fact about £20 every so often, I must admit it is getting a little tedious and repetitive. I have take the car to two mechanics both of which has told me that the leak is "trivial" and has advised me to get this stop smoke oil additive from halfords, which has helped a little but not alot. It also spits a little bit of what I would describe to be black soot out of the exhaust, not sure if that's relevant??

So what I really need to know is this something I can put up with in the long term, given the fact the car otherwise runs smoothly? Is it worth me switching to a heavier grade of oil like say 10w40 which the manual has stated can be put in? And lastly is there anything I can do to slow this oil dissappearing without forking out a small fortune?

  • permitting someone to use your car without insurance and without a license, what is the maximum penalty?

Reason I asked is my lovely so called (and now ex) has landed me right in it. So thanks to her I could lose my license and potentially be locked up. I would like to point out it is a first motoring offence

  • If, for example, I'm disqualified from driving, is there anything legally stopping me from getting a licence to ride a moped?

Just curious to know. Because as some of you well know I may lose my licence, which I only have myself to blame for I guess. But legally could I apply for a moped licence if I was disqualified from driving?

  • What do I do now? Feel down low......?

Ok quick run down of where I am physically and mentally. I had an accident yesterday where I entered a roundabout after looking right, believeing I had enough time to cross it as the driver was some 800yds+ away and before I knew it, I had been hit side on at some force I might add. Also previous to that my gf took the car out and needless to say it came back in a wreck and is now due to be written off and the insurance is not paying out for that. Before anyone does the whole "it's your fault" line, just don't please, I really don't need it. That and I'm on bail for something I didn't do and half my own family isn't talking to me. I'm now at a low point, sitting here thinking what do I do now? I don't really feel low and the girl that I'm calling my girlfriend, isn't really playing the part as it seems now shes lost interest in me now lthat I have no car, has sort of happened before.

  • What is the maximum penalty for uninsured driving?

Just curious to know what the likely penalty is for driving a car uninsured to both the person driving uninsured and the person to the car belongs to.

  • Gf drove my car without insurance?

Well long story short, gf had my keys and well took my car for a nice little ride, Little did I know less then 3 hours later I got a phone call with her crying saying she has crashed my car. Consequently I have had 2 people phone me up with regard to damage to their property and if it was just this that would be fine. But then the damage to my car is worth at least 1500 so I'm not sure if even my car is repairable as its certainly not driveable as the radiator has leaked and well the car just doesn't start. Police turned up later on yesterday, so you can see how far this is escalated. Naturally since it is my car, I have taken complete responsibility for the accident, having said that the insurance company may decide not to pay out if they discover that my car was being driven by her and to say the least she doesn't have proper insurance. At least not on my insurance she doesn't anyway.

So really what can I do? I have no car, no real way of getting to work unless I walk 10 miles each way bearing in mind I work late shifts so I wouldn't turn up home until 2am. Exhausted at that.

I feel really stupid for letting her even in my car much less drive it. What can I actually do? I really need help, really depressed and to say the least I'm stuck :-(

  • She's carrying my child but now refuses to talk to me?

Well I'll give you the short version. Basically I fell in love with this girl, we moved in, got engaged, had unprotected sex a lot and then well she started getting very, well bitchy and threatening. Then when I go up there to patch things up because I felt bad about leaving her the way I did, she tells me she is pregnant by me. Now since then a lot has happened, I helped her move, picked up her friend from burnley (baring in mind I live in Essex), we then don't see much of each other for a while and then we do and then well she refuse now to talk to me. I have said that I want to sort things out on a purely platonic level for the sake of the child but she just doesn't want to know, saying you'll never know if the baby is yours or not and all you cause is problems, the last part isn't exactly true and she knows it otherwise she wouldn't of stuck by me for 18 months. What I want to know is assuming she is pregnant by me, what can I can do to assert my rights legally as the babys father? Can I get any balls set in motion now? Yes I have tried talking to her and she just refuses point blank so that's not really an option right now. Or do I cut contact with this girl knowing that potentially she is going to give birth to my child one day and I will be excluded out of that childs life.

  • should I stay with her and try and put things right or walk away?

I'm looking for abit of relationship advice. In a nutshell this girl who I am in a relationship with, well kinda anyway, have been through alot in the last 8 months. We went from being engaged to just being gf and bf because I left her when she had a broken foot which yes I felt very guilty for. Anyway we made up and got on with things, she and her friend got arrested for attempted murder which apparently was my fault even though it was my parents who made the allegations but I'm guilty by association. Fast forward a wee bit, we have argued yes but nothing more than usual and we just got past it and got on with our relationship. Recently I went to pick her friend up from burnley which if you take into consideration I live in harlow, it is quite some trek there and back not to mention fuel. Thats when things started to go bad, she started saying that I must do this and starting shouting and today she apparently informed the police that I stole her CD's that she left in my car, no truth in this as I haven't taken anything from her. It aint my fault that she left cd's in my car and now they are gone. Now she wants 100 from me to replace them or she's going to get an injunction out against me?! To top it off she is treating this guy (the one I picked up from burnley) like they are an item, but she claims otherwise. Even to the point of sleeping with him and not me! She constantly says do this or f*** you and i fool for it like a lovesick fool. What should i do?

  • is petrol as unique as a fingerprint?

Out of curiosity, I have heard petrol has trace of it from where you brought it. But I've wondered if the trace within petrol is unique enough to tell exactly where it was brought from right down to the exact forecourt it came from or is it just specific enough to tell the place that sold the petrol in the first place ie tescos, sainsburys, shell etc.

  • What qualifies as sufficient evidence to prosecute?

I am just wondering what exactly qualifies as sufficient evidence to prosecute. Say would fingerprints and a comparison of petrol from a crime scene be sufficient enough to warrant a prosecution? Does it vary on one crime to another? If the above doesn't qualify then what would you say does?

I only ask as law is an area I wish to get into and whilst here isn't the best learning tool, I was hoping that I could get some peoples views as well as just text book answers.

  • Security deposit dispute.........?

Recently I got in touch with my lettings agency about the security deposit coming back to me. When I went in to talk to them they informed me that the landlord was disputing how the flat was left. Saying that the flat needs a professional clean (fair enough I suppose....) but what really annoys me is that the agency produce an inventory of before and after which I've not seen before and, to the best of my knowledge, did not exist up until then. Reluctantly I have agreed and received the remainder of the security deposit but I still would like that 200 back. I have read the tenancy agreement and although i vacated the property after 6 months but I did put this writing to the lettings agency and according to the tenancy agreement I am within my rights to do so. So is there anything I can do to dispute this and recover my 200 back?

  • Having access to my own child, need some advice please?

Whilst I am aware that anything on here isn't considered in anyway professional or legal advice, I would like some advice as to where I go from here. My partner, well ex partner and I have split however however she has informed me that she is pregnant by me and will never see the child not even be around for the scans. This is particuarly hurtful on 2 counts, one that I can't be in a relationship with her and 2 because I won't have access to my own child. I probably should give you abit of background for thos of you who haven't been following whats been going on between her and I, see where we were living together for a month before she got very threatening, and in my opinion a tad aggressive, and so I had my belongings removed from the flat and she decided that she was going to change the locks ON MY FLAT, and yes it was my flat hence the emphahsis through capitalization of the letters. Long story short I have tried sorting things out with her but due to recent events she has decided that we are over and that I will be a part of my childs life in anyway and that she has spoken to social services on this issue.

Again whilst I know nothing on here can have any legal weight, I would like to know what I can do next to a)be a part of the childs life and b) sort this out peacefully. Would I be right in thinking that she can't deny me access to my own child without good reason ie violence, threatening behaviour???

  • I have a friend who is in need of some legal advice.....?

Now I have a mate who has been arrested for attempted murder and has been questioned and bailed to appear back at a police station at certain date. What he would like to know is if the police had some concrete evidence would they come and arrest him or would they wait until the bail date is due and then press charges then. Clearly there was not evidence at the time to hold him otherwise he wouldn't of been allowed to talk to me or anyone else for that matter. Just would like to help him as much as possible. Also people have told him that saying "no comment" makes him look guilty and I can see why however he claims its the advice that was given to him be his solicitor.

    Thanks guys!!

  • Why haven't I received all my jsa?

Well basically I first put in for jsa over a month ago knowing that I probably wouldn't have a decent paying job. I have been in for my interview and I have been to sign on once (today will be the second time) and have realised that I have only been paid 44 quid which is somewhat short of what I expected. So what is going on?? I need the money for petrol to get back and forth and at this rate I won't ve able to do that. Now am I wrong in my understanding here, am I not meant to receive dome kind of back pay?

  • S3 issue, help pretty plzz!?

Recently I had to backup and reset my S3 and now when I try to connect my bluetooth to it it just says incorrect pin or password. I've tried googling the answer but I've tried all the solutions I have come across so far and none seem to work. Please help as I do not want to be shelling out money on a new bluetooth, seems such a waste when this is a perfectly good one.
