Gf, well ex now, took my car for a drive without insurance, crashed it. Help me! what can I do?

Well long story short, gf had my keys and well took my car for a nice little ride, Little did I know less then 3 hours later I got a phone call with her crying saying she has crashed my car. Consequently I have had 2 people phone me up with regard to damage to their property and if it was just this that would be fine. But then the damage to my car is worth at least 1500 so I'm not sure if even my car is repairable as its certainly not driveable as the radiator has leaked and well the car just doesn't start. Police turned up later on yesterday, so you can see how far this is escalated. Naturally since it is my car, I have taken complete responsibility for the accident, having said that the insurance company may decide not to pay out if they discover that my car was being driven by her and to say the least she doesn't have proper insurance. At least not on my insurance she doesn't anyway.

So really what can I do? I have no car, no real way of getting to work unless I walk 10 miles each way bearing in mind I work late shifts so I wouldn't turn up home until 2am. Exhausted at that.

I feel really stupid for letting her even in my car much less drive it. What can I actually do? I really need help, really depressed and to say the least I'm stuck :-(

simple answer, don't lie because then you are liable to charges and may not even qualify for insurance

tell the police the truth and it will all be dealt with smoothly If your gf has no other offences then it will be a fine and some black marks on her record If you lie about it then it will get ugly and really serious The courts will decide who pays for any damage

well its your own fault and when we mess up we have to pay a price that is why we learn our lesson's

when I was 18 I let my friend have a go driving my car, sure enough he crashed it, it taught me a lesson

you can report your g/f for taking your car with out your consent, then she will have to pay for both your damage and the damage she caused

or you can say it was you
