Can I be force to take vaction because I have a cough?

I have had bad allergies for a few weeks. My boss informed me that it is effecting my performance and is off putting to customers. I have been to the doctors twice and taking medicine.

US labor laws provide virtually no rights for employees when it comes to medical issues. Your boss can pretty much do whatever he wants in this situation - he can require you to stay home until the symptoms are gone or even fire you. Some states and cities have laws that require employers to accommodate an employee's illness.

Sadly I think he can force you. Is there no work away from customers? Offer to do some other work related things until your cough clears.
