What do I need for a job interview?

I applied for a job online and they called me for an interview, do I need to bring a resume even if I applied online? What else should I bring? And any tips for a successful job interview?

I usually bring (in a nice professional-looking padfolio):

    - a few copies of my resume in case they ask for it

    - a list of the questions I plan to ask about the job at the end of the interview

    - a notepad and pen in case I want to make notes

    - a copy of the job description, usually just so that I can go over it again while I'm waiting but also as an emergency backup in case they ask something about one of the job duties and I can't remember

This is probably overkill, especially the last two but always better to be prepared! Depending on your field, it may also make sense to have a professional portfolio with examples of your work.

You can bring any number of objects and characteristics to a job interview. A resume or as it is in england, a cv, would be good to take accompanied by maybe some qualifications or certificates you may have earned, you can take along references from previous jobs. In the way of characteristics, a good night sleep before the interview will help, a good breakfast, also good body language, I.e: sit up straight and have your hands loose, also speak clearly and show your confidence. Also, show you have a good sense of humor, this actually really helps as in the interviewers mind, they may be more interested from you and you will stand out from most other candidates. That's all I can think of and I hope it goes well for you

I always bring a copy of my resume in case I have to fill out an application. I also make sure I have identification although I have never been asked for it. I also take a list of my references since I don't put those on my on-line applications. Other than that I can't think of anything else.
