12 hour Layover in London LHR?
I have a 12 hour layover in London traveling from India to US. I want to get out of the airport and meet up some friends in London. I have a US Passport. Will the customs let me out of the airport? If I do go out, would they charge me a departure tax when I check back into the airport? I will check in my baggage, so I will only have my carry on bag with me. Thanks!

You should have no problems to be granted 'leave to enter' with a U.S. passport and a confirmation of onward travel plans. No airport tax is levied on passengers upon embarkation at the airport.

while you're a transit passenger then you surely won't be waiting to bypass away the airport. Left bags lockers have been very nearly completely bumped off following terrorist assaults by ability of the IRA interior the 1970's. there is incredibly little everywhere the airport to bypass and notice and you have no longer even stated what time you arrive, your layover must be in one day with the expectancy which you will e book right into a Heathrow lodge to get some sleep. you would be able to desire to envision out your timings and discover out no count in the adventure that your cost tag enables you to bypass away the airport earlier you propose on doing something in any respect.
