Is there any observable evidence for Darwinin Evolution or is it just blind faith?

Update:

Apparently not very many understand what Darwinin Evolution is. I'm speaking of one kind becoming another

Update 2:

Yes Bulldog, that is what I'm thinking.

Update 3:

@ Marduck - Finches are still finches. I want observable evidence of a change of kinds

Loads and loads, though the question is whether you'll believe *any* of it.

For starters, wander around here: http://telewatcher.com/drama/links-for-arguing-wit... , you'll see tons of links I put together on evolution.

As to the "kinds" idea... that is purely a movable feast.

Set it at species? We've seen that, a lot.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speciation_event

    http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-speciation.htm...

    http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/speciation.html

    http://biomed.brown.edu/Courses/BIO48/23.Cases.HTM...

Set it at genus? We wouldn't expect to see that in the time frame we've observed, but there are suggestive lines of fossils and very suggestive DNA evidence.

Set it at change in form or type?

Look at 5.9.1 in the second link I gave you

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HeLa is a human cell line that is arguably a new species

Source(s): It might do you some good to read this: http://www.echoschildren.org/CDlyrics/WORDGOD.HTML Or this: http://www.theclergyletterproject.org/ Or a good evolutionary biology textbook And please stop embarrassing your religion... Please check out my open questions.

How can the universe create itself out of nothingness? Given the fact that the universe began to exist, it must have had a “cause” that originated it.Doesn't it make more sense to assume the existence of a Creation.

The question is tricky because it sneaks in the false assumption that God came from somewhere and then asks where that might be. The answer is that the question does not even make sense. It is like asking, “What does blue smell like?” Blue is not in the category of things that have a smell, so the question itself is flawed. In the same way, God is not in the category of things that are created or caused. God is uncaused and uncreated—He simply exists.

How do we know this? We know that from nothing, nothing comes. So, if there were ever a time when there was absolutely nothing in existence, then nothing would have ever come into existence. But things do exist. Therefore, since there could never have been absolutely nothing, something had to have always been in existence. That ever-existing thing is what we call God. God is the uncaused Being that caused everything else to come into existence. God is the uncreated Creator who created the universe and everything in it.

You can't see the wind, but you know it is there because you can see what the wind is doing. You can know that the wind is there because you can feel it.God is like the wind, you can't see him.

The favorite 'creationist' word 'kind' has absolutely no meaning whatsoever in the objective world of biology. It's an arbitrary distinction placed SOMEWHERE along the "branches" of the phylogenetic tree (which, by the way, we've proven via molecular DNA evidence). You might as well say that roast beef and turkey sandwiches are one "kind", but tomato and chicken salad sandwiches are something different.

And as for not understanding what 'Darwinian' evolution is, apparently neither do you understand what it is. The theory of evolution says species change over time due to environmental pressures. That's it. It says nothing about 'kinds' (which, I'll repeat, is a creationist myth). I think the part where you seem to be misunderstanding is that you're assuming that we evolutionists believe that a crocodile will magically poof into a duck, or that a monkey will poof into a human. Anyone who's studied evolution in any context will tell you that this is just simply not the theory of evolution. We're not saying that the major taxon of Crocodilia will poof magically into the major taxon of Aves.

@Objective Christian - Hah, are you serious? 'Fat Salaries' paid to evolutionary biologists? And I assume you think teachers earn huge amounts of money and all live in mansions? They study this stuff because they aim to understand it, not because of some mythical 'fat salary' that you think they're getting.

The Pope, Catholic Church, Church of England and mainstream churches all accept the big bang and evolution!

Lord Carey the former Archbishop of Canterbury put it rather well – “Creationism is the fruit of a fundamentalist approach to scripture, ignoring scholarship and critical learning, and confusing different understandings of truth”!

Nice that Christians and atheists can agree and laugh together even if it is at fundie expense!

But behind the laughter is the despair at the fundamentalists striving so hard to destroy Christianity by turning it from a religion to an ideology!

Surveys suggest that 29% of American Christians are so extremist in their beliefs that they fall well outside of the accepted bounds of Christianity!

    Yes. There is evidence.

Let me also point out that "kind" is a word with absolutely ZERO biological significance.

Besides DNA and fossils (which - lemme guess - don't count as evidence for you?)....we have also witnessed in a lab, a single-celled organism evolving into a multi-cellular organism....including cell specialization. Right along with an increase (yes, an INCREASE) in complexity.

If that isn't a HUGE change in "kinds", then there is NO such thing as a change in "kinds."

The truth is, the last gap to wedge God in against evolution was closed in 2012. I'd suggest you find another lost cause and take your sword there. (I'd recommend you try the Battle of the Big Bang....it'll take a long time to crack that one, and you'll likely be able to die with the delusion that you are "winning.")

Fossil record for one. Also speciation among certain animals where they are the same genus but have differentiated into different species in isolated areas. Lemurs on Madagascar come in various forms, they aren't all the same and Madagascar isn't that big. Due to isolation in various parts of the country, different traits developed to cope with the local environment. It's a pretty well done deal. I'm afraid closing your eyes, hiding under the bed and saying it ain't so won't make it go away.

"The battle over the validity of evolution has been publicly posed as a scientific one. However, you will find little sign of it in scientific journals, where such quarrels as exist are over details, not the basic concept.... Evolution has proved so useful as a paradigm for the origin and structure of life that it constitutes the foundation of the sciences of biology and medicine."

Yes, examples include the fossil record and DNA evidence.

    Edit:

I was addressing your clumsily worded question and not what you meant. :P. My answer is spot on for what you asked. Anyway, as to what you meant, evolution has been observed in the field and the lab.

Have a look in the lab :

Have a look in the field:

Your creationist websites are steering you wrong, dmrse.

Its a Theory cross checked by multiple fields of Scientific expertise.

It is as much of a fact as the equations that make this computer work...

Darwin wrote several papers on it based on his own observations. I'm sure they are on the net somewhere if you go and have a look.
