Are you satisfied with a draw against Paraguay?

Clearly, Germany was favourite this time against Paraguay, and clearly, they again got caught in deep sleep against them. 3-3 draw is not a good result for one of the potential World Cup champs. What do you think are the causes of such bad performance? Is it too early to call Germany as favourites of World Cup?

My opinions: The defence was terrible as ever, all of them, especially center-backs Hummels and Mertesacker were playing too bad in first half. Happily, Mertesacker got replaced by Boateng who brought some stability to defence. Schmelzer isn’t the best choice IMO at backs. We lacked some-one in midfield who acts as lynchpin between defence and midfield like Schweinsteiger or Gündogan(who got replaced within just 30 minutes), as Khedira wasn’t the same as he was in WC 2010. Klose is the best striker of Germany no doubt, but it is not the best time to play him, rather Löw should use friendlies to test Kießling/Meier/Kruse upfront. Müller looked dull like Özil or Reus.

It was not good at all. It is much too early to call them favorites. I do not think Muller and Reus looked dull. I think Ozil was the one who seemed very lost in the game. He has only gotten worse since last year. Unfortunately, the problem with Ozil is his passing is amazing, but he is not good at breaking a defense and doing defensive work as an attacking midfielder. I much prefer Kroos or Gotze take that position. As for the mistakes, Khedira made the most mistakes. He seriously should not even be starting. When Lars Bender came on, the midfield became solid and defensively good. Also, he is much better in offensive work. I personally want to see a partnership of Gundogan+Schweinsteiger for the World Cup and maybe L. Bender and Gundogan too.

But the problem was not so much the line-up, it was more the effortless work in the first half and allowing too much room in the center. Way too much. They have phenomenal offensive work, but horrible in the central defense. They give so much room, and that is how Germany often allows goals. Also, because the long balls that go towards the center are not defended well.

The problem is the defensive work against long balls and having physically strong players in front who can cope with defenders pressing against their game. Cause most opponents do that to Germany. That is their way to stop them from scoring. Which is why I suggested, players like Kroos or Gotze in attack. They know how to open space near the box and are better at long balls, which is what Germany does not enough of in my opinion. Ozil is great, but he seems to stumble a lot, and does showy dribble which is not helpful. But Loew loves Ozil and you will never see Kroos or Gotze starting in attack with him in charge.

Btw, Reus was doing well, but he seemed to lack creativity yesterday to do those final moves. Muller was everywhere on the pitch but he did seem bored out of his mind.
