Surely your Holiday company should be sorting this out for you ?
Please re-edit your question to explain which company you are going with , is this indepent travelling using ferries , or what ?
Taxi from the Airport is the most convenient , but of course the most expensive , and you really dont want to be negotiating that with the driver at the airport taxi-rank , especially as a newcomer to Greece , it's asking to get ripped off .

You do not make clear if it is a cruise ship or a ferry, even though you say cruise.
Lavrio is one of the 3 ports that ferries depart from for the various Aegean islands. If now it is used for cruise ships too, that does not make sense, since cruise companies want to use ports that are close to Athens so their passengers will be able to visit the Acropolis which is the highlight of their docking in Piraeus.
Does the 80 euros means the fare from Athens to Lavrio? Or from the airport? From the airport there is a bus running to Lavrio.
Anyway, the price seems to me right considering the long distance from Athens center but then again is a considerable amount.
If you had booked a cruise that was supposed to start off from Piraeus and then they changed the port, they are responsible for the extra cost which they should cover or arrange transfer of their passengers.

If you have to go to Lavrio from the airport, then it would be complicated to go by public transportation... You'll have to pay 8 euros to go to Athens by metro (45 minutes), then 5 euros to take the bus (KTEL) to Lavrio that takes 110 minutes according to their site...If i were you and had luggage with me i would take a taxi from the airport directly to Lavrio, fastest and easy way. Just agree on the price before you get on the taxi (it shouldn't be more than 80 euros, that's for sure!!)
