Is there ever a justification for genocide?

Can there be a reason that makes it okay or acceptable?

Update:

(((((MarlboroMan)))))

Okay, the only way the "relative morality" thing works is if the people being killed also agree that it is acceptable.

If morality is subjective and relative to society, then if the overwhelming majority of people in a society believes genocide is acceptable, then that makes it acceptable. The opinions of the people being killed doesn't matter. Why would that matter?

A question best asked of King David. He set out to exterminate Saul's bloodline. Went so far as to crucify 19 of his grandchildren. Is there ever a justification, I guess. His was to prevent anyone from challenging him in the future! Justification don't mean right though.

Heck, the God of the Old Testament did it all the time or ordered it done. Can you imagine if the Haag had existed back in the time of Moses and Joshua? Please tell the court, why did you kill everything in the city? Because I was under orders from God.

l mean if it would really been justifiable, then, wont aliens already have annihilated the human race?

Now, maybe, it can be done as a desperate way to avoid a plague or virulent epidemics to expand into pandemia =)

I will aid the evolutionary process if we eliminate the less fit and prevent them from breeding. It just replaces natural selection with guided selection.

I'm going to have to say no, under all normal circumstances.
