My knee keeps clicking?

I have played sports my whole life and am in good shape. I recently got a gym membership and started to do a lot of cycling. I don't feel any pain in my knee, however every once in a while (about every ten or so minutes) my knee becomes very stiff. I have to stop pedaling and completely straighten my left leg. My knee then clicks and then I can go back to cycling again. It isn't painful but it is uncomfortable. A few hours later, I'm noticing a little bit of soreness and stiffness in my left knee. What is going on and what should I do?

It's inflamed from cycling all of a sudden. I've been active my whole life as well and I wrestle and I developed runners knee from exercising too much too hard. Maybe tone it down a little and ice everyday! A little clicking is ok but if you start feeling grinds or snaps, go to an expert right away!

sounds like scar tissue. sometimes the connective tissue will flake after years of sports, and causes some issues. you can use anti inflammatories to keep the swelling down inside the joint, but if it becomes a problem, contact a doctor

  • You need to stretch before doing that. Don't pedal to fast when you start off.
