I use a password manager, and also keep a back copy (printed copy ) Since you need to use many different password it's a good idea to keep a list that's not on your computer. For anyone answering and saying what happens if someone steal's the list?I say if you can't secure a piece of paper in your own home, you've got bigger problems than password management. I don't like a password manager that stores my information online. Two people said use Last Pass, I would not use that program if they paid me. I was using it few years ago when they got hacked, and never did figure out how much information was stolen from user accounts.You can get roboform desktop version, or one of the free password manager that are based on your computer.It's safe to make a list, as long as your computer isn't infected

And if the print gets into the wrong hands?
Use LastPass for passwords. You can access the site from anywhere and it is secure.

LastPass is safer than what you're proposing. Note: I don't install LastPass on any of my mobile devices.

its not a problem if you keep it on a separate drive you keep unplugged and in a secure location ..
