Temp fix for stripped sink pipe?
The tail disconnected from the sink basket. I took the tail fitting to the hardware store and replaced it. When I tried to connect to the sink basket, the threads on the basket are also stripped. This is a rental and my landlord isn't very quick on repairs. Is there a temporary fix for the stripped threads on the sink basket so I can connect the tail and use the sink?
Basic problem is I don't have time to do the job right this weekend. Friend of mine did suggest I use plumber's tape (or even hospital tape) to at least get the threads started.

Not that I'm aware of. The only thing I can think of is to only tighten to the point before the stripped threads, and apply teflon tape or pipe joint compound to the threads to help seal it. But in many cases that isn't good enough for a water-tight connection. The bigger box stores do sell sink baskets. All that installation takes is some plumber's putty and the right tools.

The sink basket is metal so if both part u took off and replaced were both plastic which is usually the case then it was just a bad part whicch is sadly common if that is the caseu just need to buy a metal connecter if not then u will need to replace basket strainer but untill that can be done use more then usual amount of plumber tape tighten just right till stop leaking so much might have a little drip or 2 so throw bucket under there for good faith

I would just go get all new parts and DIY. The parts are pretty cheap. You can watch some videos on YouTube to learn how to do it.
