Is there a thin floor laminate or hardwood to go over tile?

I have pets and don't want to pull up the tile as I have heard it gets real dusty for a long time afterwards.

Update:

I want it to be thin as I don't want it to look bulky.

With ceramic or vinyl tile you can go directly over it with a laminate floor or engineered hardwood. The only restriction is that the old time is relatively flat. The grout lines are NOT a problem, but a high corner in the tile is. If you have just a few high corners just crack the corner out. Fill the hole with the correct patch. One possible problem is if all the old tiles are cracking and the old tile is popping up. Then you need to remove all the tile and setting material. The store that you purchase the flooring from should be able to give you exact information you need. If the store can not go somewhere else.

You can install laminate over tile without a subfloor--if the tile is vinyl or asphalt and is in decent shape--no missing or uneven tiles, and no holes. You lay down the plastic sheeting that you buy with the laminate, and click them together on top of it.

If you have any other kind of tile--such as ceramic--you CAN'T install anything over it until it is removed--and you have to be careful about that, depending on what adhesive the tile was laid with originally. All tile and adhesive needs to be safely removed-and the floor underneath cleaned and sanded, then a NEW subfloor laid on top of it, then the laminate.

What kind of tile. In any case you can bury it under 1/2" plywood. Screw the plywood down thru the tile and put laminate floor on top of that.
