wireless gaming router?
I have a new windows 8 gaming laptop and am having lag issues because of my router. The modem is working perfectly.
My question:Which router(s) should I consider? I want dual-band and gigabit(if that's the right word.)
The computer(s) are all on the main floor,in a modest sized house.
Thank you to all who answer.

Unless your router is more than 7 years old or you screwed up the settings, I really doubt that the router is causing your speed problems. Routers do pretty much nothing beside forward the incoming and outgoing messages, and it's really hard to bottleneck speeds on the router unless you have a 6+ computers all competing for maximum bandwidth at the same time.
I'll give some router recommendations, but first, run some speed tests on your internet connection. Connect one of your computers or laptops directly to the modem (not the router), and run http://speedtest.net/ . Then compare the speed results while hooked up through your router. If there tests are about the same, it's not your router. It's your ISP and your internet speeds.
If it is your router, or you want to buy one anyways, browse http://tigerdirect.com/ and http://www.newegg.com/
This is the router I've been using for a couple years now (well, a previous model, but the same thing) and I love it: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTool...
Gerenally though, stick with Netgear routers as they tend to last longer.
