No. Originally vampires are undead people who stay in coffins or graves in daytime because sun burns them and hunt at night for life essence such as blood, soul, energy etc. They are very pale, far from glamorous. Their power include turning into bats, controlling feral animals, scaling walls. They cannot stand Garlic.

The powers that you mentioned are recent addition to the vampire myths because they were trying to give it a different view so that their productions can attract more attention.

But you do know that vampires are not real right?

In True Blood they're like that. In Twilight, word is they sparkle in the sun instead of explode. It all depends on how the author creates them.

In the old 'classic' days, there was only one kind of vampire and it was called Dracula. As soon as that story became successful, other authors cashed in on the character and started giving it their own spin and customized characteristics.

They remained as badass creatures until Anne Rice came along and wrote Interview With The Pantywaist, then the downward spiral started. That was actually a good book, but when they turned it into a movie they really made the characters into wimps. Now you know who to blame for all that Twilight crap, by the way.

Depends on the specific version of the myth. I'm pretty sure the crying blood thing was made up out of whole cloth, but those other features certainly appear in several versions of the vampire myth.

    Emphasis on "myth", btw

    No.

Vampires do not exist in the real world.

The vampires you see on True Blood are fictional characters on a fictional series.

  • No the real life vamps just drink blood through a straw or cup, and are pasty faced with bad mustaches

vampires are more like zombies. Shambling abominations, walking half corpses, without intellect or feeling and driven only to kill anything that lives.
