I tend to agree, I don't like the VIA sound chips either, having said that it depends on the equipment your talking about. Is this a Laptop or desktop? Most sound in computers comes from a sound chip that is often installed on either the system board or installed with a sound card inserted into a slot on the main system board. If it's part of the main system board, unless they make a system board for that computer with the realtek chip your out of luck UNLESS you can turn off the "on-board" sound chip in your system bios and install a sound card.I did this with my main computer. It has an Asus board with on-board sound chip but I turned it off and installed a X-fi gamer card. If your not a geek then I don't recommend the messing with the Bios part. One mess up and the system will have issues.
If it's a laptop about the same thing only your chances of a different system board with a different sound chip is very slim...if you can turn the sound chip off and the laptop has the right slot in the side of it you can install a different sound card.

get iObit uninstaller http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.php I use it for any uninstall cuz its simple and i trust it more then the factory uninstall. it will use the softwares built in uninstaller but then gives you the option to check using its own software. I don't know how to install Realtek maybe someone else can help you there.
