Jesus Christ and Muhhamed asked the same things of their followers?
Why should we not all be brethren?
(I am a Christian and have met some very fine and friendly Muslim people and can round that out with some very nice Jewish folk that all seemed to be on the same page as I was regarding the "Golden Rule")
Umm Daisy..what does that have to do with anything that happened over a thousand years ago?
What????
Jesus would not have spoken of Islam because that didn't happen until after his turn on earth.
I've got my heart with Jesus...he was a good man but I really would love to know what people have against Islam.

I must respectfully disagree.
When I go to a store and look at the generic cough medicine versus the brand name cough medicine, I'm not focused on what makes them the same; I want to know what makes them different. What exactly is it about this product that makes it cheaper? And I submit that if we do this for something as simple as a head cold, then we should be even more watchful and discriminating when it comes to other doctrines.
Even if Christians and Muslims had the very same teachings (which they don't) there is one major difference that would divide us and that is the God/god we worship. We serve two different masters. And this inclination that people have to co-mingle, to become one, to "coexist" does not go in accordance with the Christian belief. How can I say that? Well...
How can two walk together unless they be agreed. Amos 3:3
Meaning how can you be in close fellowship with people who have a completely different lifestyle than you? The God/god we serve affects so much of our lives (our conversations, what we eat, what we drink, what we wear, what we find funny) that it naturally separates us. I mean, I've found that with some people pleasant chitchat is all that can be had because the difference is so great. (Nothing wrong with pleasant chitchat by the way.lol)
That being said I would never, ever, ever, deface a mosque. I would never do anything to intentionally hurt anyone of a different faith. I respect everyone's right to choose the religion they choose however it doesn't mean I have to respect that religion itself. I can't pretend that we should just live as one because we're all the same because we most definitely are not.
(I really hope I'm answering this question from the same angle at which you're coming. If not...bummer.lol)

same things? Where did you get that idea?
The message of Islam is 100% different from the Bible message.
In Islam - you must send your sons to die for Allah.
In the Biblical faith - God sent His son to die for us.
Also - Islam considers Jesus a prophet.
But you might want to ask them.. “Can a prophet lie?”
Jesus Himself said... “"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”” (John 14:6) So was this a lie?
Jesus Himself said that He (not Islam) was the only way to God.
God (in the Torah) said it is a blood sacrifice that makes atonement. (Leviticus 17:11)
Without blood atonement - there is not forgiveness of sins according to God Himself.
So no matter how sincere a Muslim might be (and they are indeed very sincere). They do not have blood atonement and no forgiveness of sins.
Islam OR faith in Jesus alone? Both cannot be correct. So decide - which one is true?
Hint: Choose Jesus!

There are some nice, decent people in this world (winners),
And there is the vast majority of losers: They come in all sizes, colors , shapes, etc. Most of them are poorly educated in both academic and social behavior.
