should I buy my daughter a hair straightener?
My daughter is in first grade and has naturally curly hair. She wants a hair straightener and says a lot of her friends (her same age) use them. Do you think 6 is to young to be straightening hair? Aside from the worry that she might burn herself, I don't want to encourage her to be vain about her appearance or unhappy with who she is. But I do want her to fit in at school..

Waaaaaaaaay too YOUNG! This should NOT be done until she has graduated high school, has a job and is living on her own.

I think 1st grade is a little young to start using heat products, maybe you could buy her one and only let yourself straighten her hair once or twice a week. Another thing to consider is how damaged her hair will be by the time she's in high school, you don't want her to regret years later when back then she didnt know that her hair would be damaged later on.. But if you decide to get her one get a heat protector too!

It's a little too young.Don't worry about her fitting in with the other girls.The other girls might have naturally straight hair and she might think they are using a straightener.You should tell her how lucky she is to have curly hair,not to many girls can pull off the curly look with out a curling iron.

In my opinion she is way too young. Straightening her hair can damage it especially since she is too young.
