Are there too many "jacket fillers" working as bouncers and police officers?
I went to a bar last weekend and some of the doorstaff(bouncers) and the police outside the venue(town centre Saturday night) were like only 5ft'5" tall and maybe 10 or 11 stone. No way can these people be competent at their job.Surely in a role like this size and muscle matters theres no way round it?

So we should discriminate against short people who want the job? Who are you to judge? Some of the best martial artists in the world are quite short.

Height and weight does not mean they are not competent at their job, furthermore putting in place such a restriction would surely point in the way of discrimination.
Sometimes weight and strength come to nothing if the officer has technique and skill, every 6 months police officers are taught safety training including unarmed hand to hand striking, blocking, parrying, counter and restraint techniques, they continually perform these exercises during that training.
I know an officer who is only 5' 3" and could block, parry into counter, disarm and restrain a knife wielding assailant in what appears a single fluid motion, seen him do this in real life (against a real suspect) and it was like wow.
Remember weight and muscle means slower movement!

you may not think they cant do their job but trust me, i am 6 ft 8 and not ashamed to say i've met people whose barely 5 ft, and could beat me to a pulp in the military and out, remember some or most bouncers and police officers may be ex military and would of learned how to restrain and how to use their size to their advantage, don't think someones not good at a job or not dangerous because their short.

The police are ******* nowadays they used to have to be a certain hight n weight but now with the equal opportunity clowns runnin thing anyone can be a police. Iv seen a guy take on 7 police that could not get him on the ground because he is 6ft 6 n about 20 stone n the police added together weighed about the same as him n the tallest was about 5ft 9

Size isn't everything. I know short people who have more strength than people who are 6 foot tall.
