Failure to reduce speed/accident in Illinois?
I rear-ended another car. The officer issued me a citation for failure to reduce speed/accident. He advised me to plea not guilty and hope the other driver doesn't show up. I had to draw a picture describing the accident and showing me hitting the other car along with providing a description. This got mailed back to the court. If nobody shows up will I be found not guilty? Will I have to stay afterwards for a trial?
I don't really know what to expect.

Similar thing happened to me. You are at fault because you rear ended the car and unless you can prove the conditions present made safe driving and stopping distances unrealistic you will be blamed. Your insurance company will have to pay for the damage you caused and the ticket will only be enforced if a witness is present. If you are willing to spend the time showing up in court, always plead innocent and see what the judge will do for you.
