What if I am not home for fish coming in the mail?

So today I am expecting two bettas in the mail from the breeder. The tracker says they are now out for delivery for me. So hopefully it will not be a problem but I have to leave for work at 4. What if I am not home to receive them? I would hate for the poor creatures to have to go on more of a car ride but I highly doubt the person would just leave them on my doorstep, which would be okay because temps are fine for bettas. So what happens in the event that USPS arrives AFTER I leave for work?

Realistically, depending on how it's packaged, I think that fish could probably live for up to 5 days in the packaging maximum. This would be if it had plenty of oxygen and was not fed anything prior to shipment. My friend and I have always wondered just how long fish can live in a bag and it's longer than people probably think. HOWEVER that's not to say that you should just keep them in there. Ideally you should be home or have someone else be home when it comes, but shlt happens and you can't always make that work. Your fish will probably be fine though.
