How much is a 2012 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 4 door sedan worth ? There are several issues with it.?
The body has scratches down both sides of the car, the water pump doesn't work,, transmission doesn't work, stuck in park.etc This car has been parked for around one year due to mechanical repairs that need to be done.Does this car have any real value or is it just scrap? I'm not considering buying this vehicle but someone I know is being sued for the value of this car which has been parked in some one else's driveway ,unplated and uninsured.Basically I'd like to know if this car has any value at all ?

From what I understand about this car,the person I know lost his balance when his knee gave out.He broke his fall but by doing so he made a small dent on the side of the car.The owner of the car now wants him to not only pay to repair the dent but to make mechanical repairs such as the transmission, water pump, rust proofing underneath the car etc. that had absolutely nothing to do with the dent.The long and the short of it the owner wants to make a small dent repair become an overhaul of a car that wasn't roadworthy, wasn't plated or insured.The owner is asking for a value in the thousands.

Much better. It all depends on what is wrong with it. In any shape, it is worth at least something to someone even if the engine and/or tranny was shot. Maybe $500 if the body wasn't so far beat up in a non running shape. If I were the one trying to buy it, I would try to get it for $200-$300 as long as the animals didn't make large nests all in the interior & engine compartment. Maybe $200.00 to be on the safe side so if it is a hopeless cause trying to get it running, your not out much money. But that would be an idea car for a technician since he would be doing most of the work himself, no telling what it will cost the average Joe if he had to tow it to the repair shop & foot the whole bill on repairs to get it running
Technically, if its sitting in someone's driveway for that long, Im pretty sure abandonment laws should have kicked in by now & whoever owned it forfeits the right of ownership.
Im not sure what the exact laws are in Canada on this matter, you or that person may do some digging on it. If it were my car, I would have got the tow truck there to at least remove it off their property especially if those people I had known & wouldn't be a bad friend for letting it sit in their driveway for so long. The person its sitting in their driveway technically is right on the matter.
