How Will America Be Effected By Republican Voter Suppression Laws?

As soon as Republicans get power in a state legislature they pass laws to make it hard or impossible for Blacks, seniors, students, poor people, and Latinos to vote, under the guise of preventing voter fraud, which is exceedingly rare. With voting restricted to only rich white people Republicans will obviously be able to perpetuate themselves in power. What kind of laws will they be writing, knowing they can never be voted out of office? Will the disenfranchised groups suffer, and if so, how? Will America become politically unstable, will its political system become inflexible? Will the disenfranchised groups come to hate the government since they won't be allowed to participate? In sum, what will be the long term effect of denying millions of people the right to participate?

I'm going out on a limb here and I'm gonna say that these voter fraud laws will actually stop Mickey Mouse and Elvis Presley from voting anymore.

In my state, there was a recall that was signed 80 times by a single person and each one counted for the recall. All republicans are asking is that you show a valid I.D. when you vote. Apparently something you need to grab a beer, drive a car and show to get hired at a company isn't something you should need to show for your greatest constitutional right.

And if you truly think it will suppress millions of votes, then there is no hope left for you in this world. You are as ignorant as you can get.

Plus, I think this question clearly shows that you and the majority of liberals/democrats are scared because you know if will be almost impossible for you guys to keep cheating on elections.

All the down votes are clearly from ignorant liberals and all the up votes are either now enlightened or already knew this in the first place.

I'm 19 by the way and I can even see this, so the fact that so many of you can not is scary to think that you are the ones who are running this country right now.

If you were informed, you would know that in the states that have voter ID laws, the voter participation rate INCREASED, especially for minorities.

There have been a number of states with voter ID laws now and exactly NONE of them have any reports of any voter suppression. There have been no outcries or wailing, gnashing of teeth and rending of garments from the professional racially offended groups about any black voter suppression or disfranchisement.

And there has been no proof offered in courts that any suppression or disfranchisement occurred.

This is just another liberal myth you are bitterly clinging to.

There are no "Republican voter suppression laws." Glad I could clear that up

How will America be AFFECTED (not "effected" you ignorant idiot) when Democrats no longer are allowed to rely on votes cast by dead people, fictional characters and illegals?

Any citizen that allows their legislatures to make any laws whatsoever to suppress vote is a fool. Especially those citizens that allow their state legislatures to draw district lines in such a way to disenfranchise voters.

Even if these laws enable you to cheat your candidate into office, the long term consequences are very dangerous.

Maybe I'm an idealist, but I still believe that people are slowly getting more informed. I think more and more people will see the far right as exactly what they are, and will be more motivated to vote. There are so so so many more progressive minds than ultra conservative bigots, that their ultimate plan will not be successful. Otherwise, the eventual result is an unrepresentative oppressive government, which can only lead to the fall of the United States due to uprising.
