1. iMovie makes videos just like the videos made on PCs. You can't watch or work on an iMovie project file on a PC and vice versa but you can watch videos made by either PCs or Macs on anything that can show a video.
2. If your Dell has the XP, Vista or Windows 7 operating system, go to Start>All Programs and find Windows DVD Maker. You can use this program to burn a playable DVD. Playable DVDs can be watched on computers that have DVD player programs (most of them do) and on your TV's DVD player.

(If you author a playable DVD using iDVD, it's just like any other playable DVD and can be watched on any DVD player. You don't have to use a Mac to watch it.)
3. If your Dell has Windows 8 and you want to burn a playable DVD, you'll have install a 3rd party DVD authoring program. There are some free ones like DVDFlick and DVDStyler. DVDFlick is easier to use.
There are also paid/commercial/cost $ programs. A lot of people use and like Nero.

Most commercial video editors can author and burn playable DVDs, too.
Today, Glarysoft is giving away Leawo's DVD Creator. I downloaded it in March from Give Away Of The Day just to try it out (and because it was free:-) Its interface is really simple and it's easy to use. It has a small selection of menu templates. It's a very good program for beginners but it has some more advanced things like letting you create your own custom menu and some video editing options. I've downloaded 2 other Leawo programs (also daily freebies) that I'm also pleased with.

At the Leawo site, click on the Guide tab for tutorials. The only thing you have to remember about a give-away is that most of them can't be updated so don't click on the "Check For Updates" link.
Source(s): I answer a lot of photo and video questions here on Y!A so I like to know about the free and inexpensive programs that are available. I have 3 give away sites bookmarked that I check every day. If a program is from a well-known maker, I read the user reviews. This is where I find out how good the program is and decide whether or not I want to download it and try it out. - Anonymous7 years ago
In my opinion the best software to burn CDs/DVDs is Ashampoo Burning. It's a free software and it can be downloaded here: http://bitly.com/1lAVbFG
If you want to make a DVD that will work on a common DVD player, you definitely need a burning software. Copying the movie as is directly to a new DVD it's not the right way to do it (If you do so your DVD player will not be able to play the video/movie properly).
The most reliable DVD burning program I used it Ashampoo Burning. It works with all types of videos and music (both with DVDs and CDs). Ashampoo is a very modern and professional software (you can also edit videos and create DVD menus)
