Guinea pigs at night?

Hi, i'm getting 2 guinea pigs tomorrow and i'm slightly worried about what they'll be like at night. I'll be keeping the cage in my bedroom and am thinking what if i can't get to sleep at night because they'll be squeaking all the time. At night would they go to sleep or at least quiet down a bit because the lights are off and everything's calm?

guinea pigs are not nocturnal, so they should be okay. if you are really that concerned, place a blanket over the cage at night (only at night, as it will mess up their sleep cycle if you put it on the cage in the day). because they would still be getting used to their new cage and surroundings, they may be a little bit restless, but not too bad.

i really cant think of too much that might bother you. . .

oh, i had a guinea pig that didn't seem to understand bed time was sleep time (he was partly blind, and he had a crooked head, and he was just very crippled, but he was such a sweet, loving piggy), and so i sang to him at night and i pet his head until he closed his eyes and calmed down. but when i got back in bed, he would talk, again. so i just sat in bed, singing, until he fell asleep. i don't know that this will work for you, but it did for me.

good luck! i love guinea pigs<3

Unfortunately some guinea pigs can become louder at night. if it is the first night they may make a bit of noise as they will still be getting used to their new surroundings. depending on the personality of the guinea pigs depends on how loud they can be. I have seven boy guinea pigs and five don't make a noise, but the two girls inside make a lot of noise. the girls are inside and in my sisters bedroom, my sister uses night ear plugs that block out noise so that she can't hear her guinea pigs, and she says it seems to work.

Hope this helps you, and good luck on getting your two new guinea pigs. :)
