Ummm.. awkward question..?

I'm 18 and havent had a period in 4 years or so. I have had a few periods when puberty came but they were irregular and then stopped.

i went to the doctor a few days ago to get ovaries looked at. they are pretty well normal. then, the test results came in. apparently, my girly hormones are very, very low. they arent sure why. maybe the brain isnt sending the signals or the ovaries arent getting the signals, i dont have a clue. they said i have a low chance of ever making a baby. they want to run more tests but they are trying to find a doctor that will. so my questions are should i get the tests run? and will i ever have a baby?

**also, they put me on birth control for a while to see if it will work. will it?

**im not trying to have a baby.

**if it helps, im a total justifible virgin.

Initially they would run blood tests for prolactin, thyroid-stimulating hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinising hormone, possibly at different times to see how hormone levels change over time and which is lacking in the menstrual cycle process. You'd also get pelvic ultrasonography, CT scan and MRI scan. You'd then be referred to a gynaecologist or endocrinologist.

Birth control won't work at all - the way it works is to suppress a womans hormones so she does not experience the hormonal changes responsible for the menstrual cycle, this is done in order to prevent ovulation. You may get withdrawal bleeds on the pill that mimic menstruation but you will NOT ovulate, menstruate, or have a regular menstrual cycle. The pill potentially could cause more problems because when coming off the pill it takes the body some time to regulate again.

If I was you I would not take the birth control, even if they are just trying to trigger a uterus bleed it would be far better for them to do this with progesterone treatment to trigger a single bleed which then may lead to your body adjusting itself and getting into a regular pattern. Hormonal birth control will stop your body from doing anything to fix itself and stop you having a menstrual cycle at all.
