What would be some good books to read?
I guess I want something like Harry Potter or Hunger Games where it is technically for kids but it is still popular among adults.

Brandon Sanderson's entire Cosmere set of books (everything from Elantris, Mistborn, Warbreaker, etc to his newest Cosmere book series, the Way of Kings).
Anything by Mercedes Lackey. Mostly the Heralds of Valdemar series.
Temeraire by Naomi Novik. Napoleon+dragons = awesome.
Tamora Pierce's Immortals books. Best books written by her. No need to read the previous Alanna series unless you really want to.
The Selection by Kiera Cass. Awesome dystopian world where a prince chooses his bride from what is effectively a Survivor/The Bachelor situation based on a lottery.
Matched by Ally Condie. Dystopian series about men and women who have the government choose their husbands/wives for them, even if you don't know/like the person chosen for you.

I loved the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull. I'm 34, but even though it was written for kids I still thought it was awesome and really engaging. I couldn't wait to read each book. Really good!
The Maze Runner series is also really good. It's comparable to Hunger Games. Kids fighting for their lives trying to get out of a crazy dangerous maze that could kill them.

Divergent by Veronica Roth
The Darkest Minds by Alex Bracken (highly recommend this one.)
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
The Host by Stephenie Meyer (highly recommended.)
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Book Thief
The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare (not-that-highly-but-still-high-enough to mention recommended.)
Omg with the the's.

The Belgariad series by David Eddings
(I don't think it quite fits the age group thing but it's more targeting to adults because it's more advanced and in my opinion more well-written)
The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson
Both are fantasy/magic medieval time set. Both are awesome. Both deserve more readers.
