NRHH: Why is it in our nature to hate..?
There is a kid who goes to my school named Nick Niedrich. He was recently in a moped accident. He's now in the hospital with severe brain damage in a medically induced coma. The doctors are doing all they can but the chance of him not making it through this is pretty high. It makes me sick to my stomach. I never got along with the kid. I thought he was a prick. But I didn't know him. I shouldn't have made judgments like that. I never got along with him just because I'm so judgmental. And if he doesn't make it through this I'll never have the chance to say sorry. I just can't believe this.. you hear of it happening, kids our age being put in situations like this, but you can never really understand until you witness it first hand. The worst part for me is that if he does go, there will be no finding peace with him. I'm mad at myself for being so judgmental towards a person I hardly even knew.. assuming he was a d*ck because of who he hung out with. Lesson learned, I guess.

@Beni - We got into it a few times. I just hate that he might die thinking of me as the @sshat who hates him for really no reason.

Well this is life isn't it S Mental? And if this is the first time this sort of thing has happened to you then sadly to be honest it won't be the last. There will be many times you won't be able to take back words to say the words you wanna say and the most worst feeling is if these sort of incidents occur.
As for why we hate? I don't know, it stems from something deep in our hearts to do so. For me, as much I can despise someone, I would not ever wish them death. Don't go and bash yourself for what's happened, it's in itself a lesson of course and with such tragedies, tough lessons are learnt.
It's going to haunt you for a while bro, but you will get over it in time and it's sad to see someone in any form of accident. Will be praying for him, you, the school and everyone involved.

Say sorry for what? Did you even do anything hurtful or bad to him? You're being overly sentimental about the whole thing in my opinion and beating yourself up for nothing.
Fear is probably going to come in here and call you a girl again.
Also I don't really know how to answer you main question, we just have the capacity to hate because we're wired that way. :/

Understand we are human. We're all not going to get along. We all have different perspectives on situations. But the best we all can do is accept everyone's opinions. Accept that not everybody will agree with you. But as i said, we are human.

All you can do is pray. Even if he doesn't make it at least you'll have the comfort of knowing his soul is safe.
But I hope you treat people better from now on, especially if they didn't do anything to you.
I'll pray for the kid, too.
